New product types: What Amazon sellers should know

There has been a lot of important news for Amazon Sellers lately. We would like to report on some of the changes in this post. First, we'll take a look at the new product types that have been available since August. Then, we'll go over the new selling guidelines for light bulbs. We'd also like to introduce you to the new deferred transactions page.

New product types on Amazon

In August, Amazon introduced new product types. You can view these product types via the "Add product" function. You can then set them under "Manage inventory". The product types are intended to better distinguish the items offered, which contributes to customer satisfaction. However, if you don't want to use the new attributes, you don't need to worry because they will not be changed automatically.

New sales guidelines for light bulbs

Next week, a directive comes into effect that affects the sale of light bulbs on Amazon. Namely, some product types will no longer be allowed after Oct. 1, 2021. The new guidelines apply to clear bulbs (15W to 100W), frosted bulbs, and halogen bulbs. However, for the latter, R7, G9, GU5.3, G4 and GY 6.35 types will still be allowed. Amazon has already announced that more info on the deadline will follow. As an Amazon Seller, you should therefore already make sure that your products comply with all applicable guidelines. Otherwise, your products may be removed from the Amazon marketplace.

By the way, you can find posts about other Amazon policies on our blog. For example, we inform you about the guidelines for your product detail page. In addition, we show you what you need to consider for your product images. In addition, we've summarized the most important inventory policies for you. New page in Seller Central

There is a new page that Amazon sellers can use in Seller Central. There, you can view transactions on hold. The page provides you with relevant data about current orders and also tells you what your total backorder amount is.

These were the most important Amazon news this week. Do you also have questions about the new product types or need help navigating Amazon Seller Central? We are happy to help you in this regard with words and deeds. Just send us a message - of course, without any obligation.
