Due to the difficulties caused by the Corona pandemic for some online retailers, Amazon decided last December not to adjust the Amazon fees until 2021. Since the adjustment will now take place on 8 June, we would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the details. In this context, we will first deal with the percentage sales fee. Furthermore, we will cover the fee adjustments for Amazon FBA. Finally, there is a short check of the currently running promotions.
Recently, we already informed you about the reduction of the percentage sales charge for bicycle accessories. There will also be changes in the categories "Car & Motorbike" and "DIY". In the first category, there will be a reduction: if the price is more than 50 euros, the previous percentage was 15 percent. As of June, the sales charge will only be 9 percent. For accessories for cars and motorbikes, however, nothing changes. Instead, there will be an increase for DIY articles: However, this is limited, as the increase is only from 12 to 13 per cent.
The changes in shipping charges apply to local shipping with Amazon FBA as well as pan-European shipping and the European shipping network. On the one hand, the adjustment of the weight of the packaging will be dropped. For shipping from logistics centres within Germany, there will be a reduction from 50 cents to 35 cents. To benefit from this reduction, you must participate in the "Central Europe Programme".
Another change relates to the liquidation service, which will be introduced in May 2021. This will initially be free of charge for all sellers. From 8 June, however, a fee will be charged for the service. The fee for so-called optional services will also be adjusted. With regard to multi-channel shipping, there will initially only be a change for the United Kingdom. For certain sizes, the fee will be reduced there. There will be no changes in Germany, Spain, France or Italy, but there will be changes later in the year.
To give you another brief overview of the current Amazon promotions, we will now review them: At the beginning of March, Amazon has lowered the fee for processing returns in some categories. This applies to clothing, shoes and handbags. The fee is now completely waived for jewellery and watches. As part of a promotion, there was also a reduction in the percentage sales fees for the categories just mentioned: For items that cost more than 45 euros, the percentage is now only 7 per cent instead of the previous 15. Amazon has extended this promotion until the end of March 2022. Furthermore, as already mentioned, the percentage fee for bicycle accessories has been reduced from 15 to 8 percent. Another programme introduced in April concerns new Amazon FBA items. In this context, among other things, the ASIN restriction was overturned and further advantages were introduced. You can find more details in this article.
Now, the term "Amazon FBA" has come up several times in this post. Since some of you may not yet know what this is all about, we would like to give you a little overview: FBA stands for "Fulfillment by Amazon", which in short means that Amazon takes care of receiving, storing and shipping your goods. This brings with it a number of advantages. Firstly, your products get higher visibility and are thus more likely to be bought. Secondly, with Amazon FBA you can sell to customers all over Europe without any problems. All in all, the delivery of shipping processes also means less effort, which means you can devote more time to other business goals again.
