In short

Hermes Agent is an open source AI agent by Nous Research. Plugins extend it through official interfaces without touching the core. Skills are instructions that Hermes loads by itself when a task calls for them.

Why we build plugins

We run Hermes every day, as our own system and for clients. When something is missing, we build it so it helps others too, and we publish it. The bigger picture behind it is B.R.A.I.N., our personal AI system for business owners.

Frequently asked questions about the Hermes plugins

What is a Hermes plugin?
A plugin extends Hermes Agent, the open source AI agent by Nous Research. It hooks in through official interfaces and does not change the Hermes core. You install it with hermes plugins install.
How do I install chat-length?
Run hermes plugins install chat-length --enable, then hermes gateway restart (or restart your WebUI or Desktop backend). It requires Hermes Agent v0.21.6 or newer.
What do the plugins cost?
Every plugin on this page is free and MIT licensed. If paid packages are added later, they will be listed separately with a price.
Does chat-length work in WebUI, Desktop and Telegram?
The plugin runs server-side inside Hermes, so it is built for every surface. So far we have live-tested it in the CLI on Hermes v0.21.6 and v0.22.2. WebUI, Desktop and Telegram are next.
Is chat-length in the official Hermes plugin catalog?
Yes. Since 23 October 2026 chat-length has been in the official Hermes Agent plugin catalog. Nous Research reviewed and accepted the entry. Find it with hermes plugins search chat-length or on its catalog page at hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/docs/plugins/chat-length.
Does chat-length store my chats?
No. Per chat it only stores token counts, the model and which level fired, and it deletes these entries after 30 days. It makes no network connections.
Do you build custom plugins?
Yes. If your Hermes should do something it cannot do yet, tell us briefly what you need.
