Amazon sellers with a larger business know that their financial activities are rarely limited to their own country. Whether manufacturing or a step in the delivery process, international transfers must be made. However, such transfer payments are often time-consuming and costly. Therefore, it makes sense to work with a partner for international payments. We would like to introduce just such a provider to you in more detail in this article: It's about Wise. To give you a better idea of the services Wise can offer you, we will take a look at some of the provider's services as examples. We'll also take a look at the benefits that private and business customers can expect. Of course, we will also inform you about the costs involved. Finally, we share our own experiences with you.
To begin with, we would like to show you how this process works with Wise by means of a transfer from British pounds to euros. When transferring money with Wise, you always pay a fixed fee and a variable fee. In the case of pounds, this amount is £0.20. The variable fee depends on the amount of your transfer. You always pay 0.35 percent. Accordingly, for an amount of £100 you will have to pay £0.35 to Wise. For some types of transfers, these fees may vary, but the amount never differs much from the example shown. Therefore, you do not need to be afraid of unexpectedly high bills. If you transfer more than £100,000 per month, you will also receive a discount.
In addition to the cost point, the time required for a transfer with Wise is of course also of interest. In many cases, this only takes a few seconds. After one day at the latest, your money should reach its destination in any case. In case there is a delay, you will receive direct information about which step your money is currently in. If we stick to the British pound to euro example, you can expect an approximate transfer time of four hours.
Now that we've explained costs and transfer duration, let's move on to the actual transfer process. First, you need to register with Wise either in the browser or in the app. Then you specify the amount of the transfer. After that, you will get the info on how long it should take. Now, you also need to provide the payee's bank information and, of course, verify yourself. After the transfer is received, you don't have to worry about anything. You can get updates directly from Wise.
The money used for your transfers is protected by Wise by being stored at established banks. In addition, the respective regulations of the countries are applied. Payments are only made with 2-factor authentication. Moreover, you always know which of your data is used for which purposes. Protection against fraudsters has also been thought of.
To receive payments from business partners, you can get local bank accounts at Wise. Many Wise customers have already had good experiences with this. Your partners can then transfer money to you much more easily than to an account in another country. You can set up bank accounts for British pounds, US dollars, Australian dollars, New Zealand dollars, Singapore dollars, Romanian lei, Canadian dollars, Hungarian forints and Turkish lira.
You can transfer money to as many as 80 countries with Wise! From Germany to the USA or Brazil to China, Thailand or Australia, there are few limits to what you can do. On the map you can see which countries are available. You can also get more detailed information about the individual countries directly from Wise*.
Basically, Wise customers can open an account for free. This includes many useful features, such as a European IBAN and account numbers in the countries listed in the "Local Bank Accounts" section. If you have a balance of more than 15,000 euros, you have to pay 0.4 percent annually.
Ordering a debit card from Wise costs £5. If you need a new card, you have to put down another £3. You can also withdraw money for free up to the amount of £200 per month. If the monthly withdrawal exceeds £200, you will have to pay a fee of 1.75 percent. You can find more information about the exact fees at Wise*.
The previous information has also generally referred to the private use of Wise. However, for business customers and Amazon Sellers, Wise Business is also interesting. Wise Business allows you to open accounts in up to 10 currencies, which allows you to receive payments faster. You can also have your money paid out by Amazon in any currency. Local bank accounts also make invoicing easier. Wise also recommends giving employees, especially from the accounting department, access to the Business account, as this can save you a lot of time internally. By the way, with Wise Business you can also exchange money in seconds. You can also integrate financial apps with Wise.
First of all, opening a normal Wise account is free of charge. You have to activate the business functions first. For this, you pay a one-time fee of 21 euros. After that, you can enjoy the benefits, such as the integration of your employees. For a business account, you must be a sole proprietor or owner of a limited liability company, partnership, corporation or charity. Verification usually takes 2 to 3 days.
Wise can be useful not only for business activities but also for people who emigrate. For example, if you already live abroad but your employer is still based in your country of origin, you can conveniently provide them with your local bank details. With the Wise Debit Card, you can also always pay in the right currency locally. In addition, you can make purchases in foreign online stores. There you can then also pay in the local currency. Even if you travel a lot, you can benefit from the lower exchange rates. Wise is also useful if you want to buy real estate abroad and receive rent, for example.
As an Amazon full-service agency, we have been using Wise ourselves for some time. We can confirm the positive assessments from other customers. The transfers work quickly and without complications. The business features are also extremely useful when you have business partners abroad. We were particularly impressed by the large repertoire of currencies and countries available at Wise. Accordingly, we can highly recommend Wise!
