Here's what the Amazon Brand Protection Report says

Amazon's new Brand Protrection Report looks at the ways in which Amazon ensures that brands receive appropriate protection against counterfeiting. The report has been published for the second time this year. In this way, Amazon wants to ensure on the one hand that sellers feel sufficiently supported and on the other hand that customers use the sales platform without hesitation. This includes namely that they can trust that they are not buying counterfeit products. In 2021 alone, Amazon invested over $900 million in brand protection. In the process, the sales platform is trying to constantly develop new innovations that facilitate brand protection. We would like to discuss the most important points in the next section.

Milestones in the Amazon Brand Protection Report

Last year, more than 2.5 million cases of fake or scam accounts being created on Amazon were prevented. This is primarily due to the verification of sellers who register with Amazon. For example, sellers can recently be verified via video call during registration. You can read more about this in this article. With the help of these and other measures, the number of fraud attempts on Amazon has been reduced by more than half. In addition, there are several tools that help sellers protect their brands. We have reported on these tools in this news article, among others. As a result of the comprehensive brand protection, 700,000 brands now use Brand Registry. A third pillar of brand protection is the Counterfeit Crimes Unit or CCU for short. It ensures that the appropriate legal steps are taken against fraudsters on Amazon. Last year, more than three times as many sellers were sued who had attracted attention through fraudulent activities.

Seizure of products

Over the course of the past year, more than 3 million fake products were seized. Among other things, items were even shipped to FBA logistics centers that were fakes. Accordingly, this made a major contribution to brand protection.

Helium 10 Alerts

An additional tool that sellers can use for protection against counterfeiting is Helium 10 Alerts. With this tool you can monitor up to 1000 ASINs. You can either import the ASINs or manually enter them into the software. Alerts also takes screenshots of your Amazon listings. If counterfeits are detected, the tool will alert you immediately. Moreover, you will be warned in case someone passes off your brand as their own. Consequently, you can react immediately when a threat is detected. With Alerts, you can also report the hijackers to Amazon. They may then be banned from selling on the platform. As a result, you are permanently protected from hijackers and can devote yourself to your sales with peace of mind. You can learn more about Helium 10 Alerts here.
