These Amazon fee changes are coming your way in 2022

The new year has just started and for Amazon sellers there are some innovations. One of them is about fee changes that Amazon is introducing in 2022. We would therefore like to look at the developments that have led to the new fees. Afterwards, we will inform you about what will specifically change in the costs of the FBA program. In addition, we shed light on the current development in the percentage sales fee. Furthermore, we talk about an Amazon action that helps sellers after the Brexit and about a program for new items at Amazon FBA.

Recent developments

First, let's take a look at the latest developments in Amazon fee changes. Amazon has delayed some of these changes until 2022. In other places, costs were even dropped. According to the company's own information, the fees must now be raised anyway, because otherwise the ongoing costs cannot be offset. The new fees come into effect on March 31, 2022. You can also find out about the exact changes in Seller Central.

Amazon FBA Fees

As a first important point, we would like to talk about the new Amazon FBA fees. These affect shipping on a local and European level. However, there are also reductions in some areas. If you use logistics centers in Germany, the surcharge per unit drops from 35 cents to 25 cents. However, this only applies if you are not participating in the "Central Europe Program". If you want to learn more about the Amazon FBA program, this article might help you.

Changes in the percentage sales charge

Regarding the percentage sales charge, you should note that Amazon is continuing an ongoing promotion. It was supposed to end soon, but now runs until March 31, 2023. As part of the promotion, the percentage sales charge on apparel, shoes and bags is reduced from 15 percent to 7 percent. However, this only applies if the sale price is at least 45 euros.

Other changes

Due to the introduction of new size and weight classes, Amazon is adjusting the fees, which from now on will always be assessed on the basis of the higher value. In addition, the return and disposal fees will increase. However, there will be no increase in liquidation fees. However, the storage of standard-sized items will become more expensive. Products that have already been in a logistics center for 331 days will cost you a long-term storage fee from now on, but it will be lower than the one due after one year.

Amazon Actions

If you ship from the UK to the EU or vice versa, you can benefit from a promotion that saves you 20 percent on the cost of the European Shipping Network. Another promotion for the Transport Partner Program starts on April 2022 and is to be limited to one year. In this case, you can save as much as 50 percent of the fees. It applies in France, Italy, Spain and Germany.

New item program

Starting in March, there will be a program for new items in FBA shipping. Amazon Sellers who have registered their own brand can look forward to a 5 percent discount when you introduce new products in FBA. For this you need a completely new ASIN.
