Amazon Fees 2023: These are the most important changes

In 2023 there are some changes in Amazon fees. In this article you will learn, among other things, what will change in the percentage sales fee. It also talks about the changes in FBA fees. All of the changes will go into effect on March 1, 2023. Furthermore, we look at some news regarding program for new items in the assortment of shipping through Amazon as well as the Small and Light program.

Amazon Fees 2023: Percentage sales fees

The first Amazon fees 2023 we are looking at are the percentage sales fees. The change this year is that the percentage sales fee for discount promotions drops from 15 percent to 7 percent. This applies to the portion of the total sales price that is higher than 45 euros. For sellers who use the sales tax services, an additional factor is that from June 30, the percentage sales charge will then apply to the selling price of items. In addition, another change is that some products are coming into new product categories. Therefore, some fees will also change. Sellers must also note that the percentage sales charge will be affected by the tax rates of each marketplace.

FBA fees, storage fees and returns

New to the FBA fees in 2022 was that sellers now had to pay a fuel and inflation surcharge. This was for the simple reason that Amazon had to absorb the expected cost increase. Now, however, the standard FBA fee rates are also being adjusted. Therefore, the fuel and inflation surcharge will be eliminated again and the new fees will remain permanent. Specifically, Amazon is adjusting shipping fees for domestic FBA, pan-European shipping and EFN. However, sellers will benefit from receiving a discount on European shipping fees from the EU to the UK for one year.

Another change is the determination of the shipping weight for parcel size categories via the higher value of unit weight and volume weight. There will also be an increase in the monthly charges for standard size storage in the peak and off-peak seasons. Furthermore, there is an increase in the surcharge for old inventory in the warehouse starting May 15, 2023. In addition, there is a surcharge for warehouse usage for sellers with a lot of inventory. Also, Amazon is increasing remand and disposal fees. However, the fees for liquidations will not change.

New items in the FBA assortment and Small and Light program

As before, the program for new items in the FBA assortment gives a discount for certain ASINs. These must be newly added to FBA. This year, the discount will actually increase from 5 percent to 10 percent on average. The Small and Light program is also scheduled to expand in 2023. The item price for eligible products will be increased by 1 euro in the process. This is intended to allow sellers to take advantage of the program for more products.
